Yvonne Varela

Yvonne has over 25 years of finance expertise as a Chartered Accountant.

Originally hailing from Sydney, she has worked with a variety of business owners from small family operations through to publicly listed companies. Her passion is helping businesses and not-for-profits run efficiently and leverage IT effectively. Yvonne’s combined IT and finance skills make her an asset to any organization.

Yvonne was elected as Treasurer in 2019 and resigned from the Committee in 2025.

During her time she used her extensive knowledge and skills in multiple areas of finance including compliance, audit and governance for the profit and not-for-profit sectors as well as Federal Government agencies, to revive and rebuild the once flailing financial and non-financial operations that she inherited when coming into the role.

Yvonne’s legacy for the Community is one of resilience, integrity, and transformative leadership — an enduring contribution that will continue to shape the Community's future well beyond her tenure.
