Membership

Supporting your community can be extended by those that are passionate about joining us as a Member. There are many benefits to becoming a Member and being part of an organisation of like-minded people that work together to provide for our community. 

Membership overview

There are many reasons why people become a Member of our not-for-profit organisation. We welcome Members that have a like-minded approach and work together to help bring about our goals and mission for our community. 

Not-for-Profit

Our organisation is not-for-profit, which means we provide services to the community and do not operate to make a profit for Members. 

Sense of Purpose

Our Members have sense of purpose and want to work with others to make a difference in the community. 

Make an Impact

Members come together to help improve our community by addressing resource shortages and contributing skills and capabilities.

Access Benefits

You may be able to access benefits that are only available to Members like online resources or use of facilities at discounted rates.

Be Heard

Some Members are able to be involved in the decision making process and attend certain meetings like our AGM. 

Recurring Support

Membership provides recurring support by way of membership fees that go towards the funding of our programs and event. 

Types of Membership

Not all Membership is the same. This is because of the involvement you may want as a Member or you have a been provided a level of honor for year of community support and dedication.

 

All levels of Membership have rules and obligations that need to be respected. Understanding the difference between them is important because becoming a Member is an agreement between us and you and we reserve the right to remove or refuse membership where membership rules and obligations are not followed. 

Current membership levels are:

  • Ordinary annual membership 

  • Honorary membership  

  • Life Membership  

General Membership

General membership is an annual membership that is granted to people who have met our membership requirements. 

This membership level is the first level of membership that any one seeking to become a member must hold before being eligible for any other level of membership. 

 

What is involved: 

  • you must be a natural person 

  • you must be over the age of 18 

  • you must reside in Canberra or immediate surrounding area 

  • you must be baptised of Greek Orthodox faith

  • length of membership is for one (1) year

  • annual fees must be paid  

  • annual fees are not tax-deductible

  • you submit a fully completed membership application form 

  • your membership application must be endorsed by a current general member or life member

  • your membership application is reviewed and accepted by the Committee Members

  • you do not have any voting rights

Honorary Membership

Our community is full of talented professionals across many different fields and industries. 

 

Skill-based volunteering provides the opportunity to use your knowledge, skills, professional experience and expertise to help our community projects reach their goals.

 

You can make a difference by donating just a few hours each week or work on a specific project. 

 

We love skills volunteers in areas like: 

  • Project development and management 

  • Marketing and campaign management

  • Social media and content creation/management 

  • Graphic design 

  • Website development and management 

  • IT systems development and management 

  • Many more areas!  

Life Membership

Life membership is an honor given to existing members who have made exceptional contributions to our community over a significant period of time. 

 

 

You can make a big difference with on-going projects by donating just a few hours each week or work on a specific project. 

 

We love governance and leaders in areas like: 

  • Finance and legal advice 

  • Strategy direction and planning 

  • Not for Profit and Charity governance 

  • HR guidance 

  • Member management 

  • Volunteer management 

  • Government relations and advocacy 

  • Funding management and procurement  

  • Many more areas!
